Facilities and Animals The Veterinary Technology Program is housed in Robinson Hall, located on the west side of campus on Centennial Boulevard and 16 1/2 St. (refer to the campus map) Robinson Hall has two classrooms, a small animal surgery suite, a radiography room and darkroom, a Veterinary Wellness Clinic and offices for the program staff. In addition Robinson Hall houses the program's Beagles, cats, birds and laboratory animals. Students and animals are often found studying together and it isn't uncommon to have a cat help you with note taking! Or, you may look over and see a Quaker Parrot chewing on your neighbor's notes. In addition to the animals that live in Robinson Hall the program utilizes the many animals belonging to the Department of Animal and Range Sciences. Beef and dairy cattle, sheep, horses and swine are all integrated into the course work in the program. The herdsmen from each unit often call for help with various procedures. This could mean drawing blood for Johne's disease, castrating and dehorning, helping to lamb flocks of sheep or treating animals that are sick after the veterinarian has prescribed medication or treatments. On occasion students get to work with wildlife at the Red River Zoo that has been injured, are sick or for their annual check-ups. For those students who are interested in this line of work, it is a great opportunity to see animals that are unique to our latitude from around the world!
